About
Ashley Botting is a director, actor, writer, and improviser who spent years on the The Toronto Second City Mainstage, where she created and performed four original sketch revues, and directed two of them. Her work there earned her a Canadian Comedy Award for both writing and improvisation, and set the foundation for a wide-ranging career in comedy and storytelling.
As a TV writer, Ashley has been a writer and story editor on several major series, including CBC’s This Hour Has 22 Minutes (for which she has won two Canadian Screen Awards), PBS’s Odd Squad, Apple TV’s The Snoopy Show, and Nickelodeon’s Zoofari. On camera, she played Delivery Debbie on Odd Squad and Coach Swanson on What We Do in the Shadows. She’s also a familiar voice on CBC Radio’s Because News, where she has been a guest host, writer, and most often a panelist.
In addition to her work on TV and radio, Ashley was awarded the Playwrights Guild of Canada Award for Best New Musical for her show The Stars of Mars. She continues to work across live performance, writing, acting, and comedy education, always bringing a sharp point of view and a background in improvisation to every project.
